  • Abstract
This paper outlines a carrier´s view of personal communication services (PCS) in the Australian regulatory and competitive environment. Telstra considers PCS as covering a broad range of both wireless and wireline personal telecommunications services that can be provided using wireless and wireline network technologies. A key objective of PCS developments is to ensure that the end-users fully benefit from personal service mobility, flexibility and control, irrespective of underlying technologies. In particular, end-user service mobility can be provided beyond national boundaries by adopting appropriate mature regional and global standards and associated spectrum bands for wireless PCS
