Abstract :
It has become painfully obvious to designers of optical devices and free-space links that their technology has yet to find a home inside the computer. PCs may have “Intel Inside” but they definitely don´t have VCSELs inside, save for the board edge where they´re in modules communicating outside the box. Why is this the case and when will it change?
