Abstract
This paper proposes the queueing scheme of multiple priorities traffic control mechanism when multiclass calls waits in a queue of a multiservice personal communication system (MPCS). In order to obtain a high total admitted traffic while guaranteeing the protection of multiclass calls, multiple priority calls are queued. The queueing scheme, named head of line (HOL) and partial buffer sharing (PBS) are studied. Moreover, an analytical solution for HOL and PBS is shown for the forced termination probability and mean waiting time according to the threshold value of priority calls. The proposed analytical solution of each scheme is verified by using the simulation language, SLAM II. We can see that each call of the MPCS is important to decrease the forced termination probability and waiting time for the HOL and PBS schemes according to the threshold value, queue size, traffic intensity, and the mixing ratio of priority traffic. Finally, the proposed queueing model of the two schemes can obtain more accurate numerical results and is flexibly adapted to the multiclass calls in the multiservice PCS
