Abstract
The paper presents a proposal for a synchronization mechanism to be integrated in a virtual machine supporting distributed shared objects. This mechanism was initially inspired by the synchronization model of the Guide system, based on counters and activation conditions. The mechanism is intended to support synchronized objects written in several languages
