Abstract :
A pulse modulated driving voltage of a surface acoustic wave (SAW) excites an alternative shear force on the surface of an SAW substrate. The force can be perceived as tactile sensation at mechanoreceptors in the finger skin. A SAW tactile display module was installed on a computer mouse button. Reproduction of human tactile sensation was demonstrated.
