Abstract :
Innovation is getting increasingly crucial for a company to maintain its comparative advantage and remain leadership in the market. The concept of open innovation indicates that firms can boost their innovative performance by both acquiring knowledge from outside the company and employing external paths to market for commercialization of key technologies. Current researches on open innovation application in China are still unclear and immature. Through a series of data description and comparative analysis, the research explored the open innovation mechanism and its outcomes by comparing five sample enterprises from China and France. Their organizational structure and intellectual property issues are specially discussed in the paper. The conclusion is instructive for China, which suggest that both the government and the enterprises should change their relatively conservative idea and take action to adopt the open innovation strategy.
