Abstract
This study shows that the ocular chromatic aberration plays a key role in color assimilation. Aberration was evaluated by the distance to which vertical color strips apparently moved by the horizontal motion of a vertical slit through which they were viewed. The distance of apparent motion was comparable to the distance up to which color assimilation between color strips occurred.
