Abstract :
A formula is proposed to calculate eddy current losses density distribution in the permanent magnet of PMSM. The magnetic field of motor is solved by FEM and eddy current losses in PM are calculated to verify the formula. The complicated three-dimensional structure is considered and one pole of motor is selected as the model analyzed according to its symmetry. To acquire desirable analysis and precise waveform of eddy current, 100 time steps are selected to do instantaneous analysis in one cycle. Skin depth of magnetic field is considered when finite elements are divided. As a result, the influencing factor of eddy current losses is concluded according to our calculation and the formula gets verified.
