Abstract :
The GIG edge network testbed provides a high-fidelity real-time lab environment for testing and experimenting with host systems and network configurations. Real or simulated host computers are attached to network nodes that run real JTRS WNW software over simulated wireless links. Platform mobility, radio-path fluctuations and accurate user traffic are included in the simulation of tactical scenarios. Simulation results are collected with SNMP, displayed as the experiment proceeds, and analyzed to understand system performance. Host-system developers can work with network engineers to understand the network requirements needed to ensure that information-exchange requirements are met. Repeatable, scripted scenarios as well as realistic mission scenarios are used to stress the user systems as in a mobile military operation. Detailed traffic statistics and network-protocol traces are collected for post-experiment analysis
