  • Abstract
When using ATM to transfer data packets such as IP packets, a total overhead portion (including cell headers and signaling/management cells) could become more than 10% of the total transmission capacity. If we can reduce this overhead portion, then the reduced amount of bandwidth would become available for sending users´ information data. In this case, both service providers and users can get benefits. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method to transfer data packets by use of the standardized ATM cells without their headers except for the very first cell to transfer the data packet or its segment
