Abstract
A scheme is presented for enhancing the estimates of covariance matrices for covariance-based direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimators. It is based on the exploitation of the temporal correlations existing between multiple snapshots. The proposed method applies to the scenarios of both narrowband and wideband impinging signal sources. Simulation results demonstrate the enhanced resolution obtained by applying the method for covariance matrix enhancement in conjunction with the MUSIC algorithm
