Title :
Design and construction of adaptive devices for the disabled: design education with marker potential
Author_Institution :
Dept. of Mech. Eng., Binghamton Univ., NY, USA
Abstract :
The author discusses the objectives of a course in design of devices for the disabled. The course must present a structured program of design methodology, which involves group activities and several opportunities for writing and oral presentation. It should also involve an open-ended client-based project which involves a simple mechanical system amenable to stress analysis and graphical representation. The author discusses project identification and selection, and what the students are expected to do during the design process
