Abstract :
Integrated services networks have to support several applications with different quality of service requirements. Applications requiring strong service guarantees must be supported by bounded-delay services based on deterministic traffic models. This paper proposes a deterministic traffic model for video sources that takes advantage of specific MPEG coding characteristics. This model introduces a quality parameter that allows to balance complexity and accuracy. The results show that high accuracy can be obtained with low processing time
