Abstract :
The world is facing the problem of rapid aging. ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is capable of alleviating this problem. Among the technologies available, simple physical sensors will be the key to capturing a variety of information including human vital information even in the home. This will result in creating a new infrastructure or service of Distributed Diagnosis and Home Healthcare. In order to clarify how sensors-based systems can assess the rehabilitation status of people with leg injuries, this paper describes the results of on-going experiments in which a wearable foot pressure sensor is used to capture foot pressure while walking. The results show that rehabilitation progress can be verified by the system and help motivate the subject to continue with rehabilitation.
