Abstract
The emerging Web-based technologies will change the way networks are managed. Currently, network managers have to use expensive, and sometimes, vendor-specific management consoles to view and manipulate network data. What is required now is universal access of management information that is cost-effective, easy-to-use, and allows better interoperability. This paper investigates the requirements for Web-based network management, and examines the major emerging technologies and proposals in this area. It provides a set of guidelines for developing a Web-based network management system. Based on these guidelines, a framework is presented that combines the strengths of a variety of Web-based technologies and proposals
