Abstract :
The operation of an industrial batch polycondensation reactor is optimized using sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method. Optimal reactor temperature trajectory is obtained to reduce the reaction time. Various product quality and safety related constraints are also considered. Optimization results show the proposed optimal temperature trajectory can reduce the reaction time significantly
