Abstract :
A novel multi-band monopole antenna that consists of Umbrella-shaped patch and slots cut out of the ground, fed by 50-Ω microstrip feed line is introduced. The antenna has simple structure with dimensions of 40 mm×40 mm. The simulated impedance bandwidth for -10 dB return loss is from 2.26 to 2.56 GHz, from 3.35 to 3.6 GHz, from 5.12 to 5.37 GHz and from 5.65 to 6.05 GHz, respectively, covering the 2.4/5 GHz WLAN and WiFi operating band and 3.5 GHz WiMAX operating band. Also, the omni-directional pattern, good gain, and broad bandwidth performance over the operating bands have been obtained.
