Abstract :
Many modern receivers employ intermediate-frequency (IF) sampling and a 1-b analog-to-digital (A/D) converter at the receiver front end for the pseudonoise (PN) spread spectrum communication systems. After the 1-bit A/D converter, the PN code synchronization, the carrier synchronization, and the bit synchronization are implemented digitally with the use of an application-specific integrated circuit. This paper computes the effects on the PN code acquisition time and bit error probability of the 1-bit A/D converter
