Abstract :
The paper is about digital processing of data acquired by a low-resolution spectrometer. A procedure for calibration of spectrometers is proposed which yields an operator enabling a user to correct the spectrometric data for the effect of hardware imperfections. The procedure, based on the use of a genetic algorithm of global optimization, is studied using both synthetic and real-world data, viz. it is used for estimating parameters of three nonlinear operators of data correction: a rational filter, a Cauchy filter and a superposition of two Cauchy filters. The results confirm the practical usefulness both of the proposed procedure of calibration and of the proposed Cauchy filter
