Abstract :
This paper presents a comparison between current and voltage mode Gm-C based filters used in baseband applications. Several important criteria derived from system level considerations are examined, such as dynamic range, intermodulation distortion and gain compression. Based on the above criteria, two third-order filter structures in current and voltage mode are compared. Extensive simulation results indicate that in some applications current mode filters can be superior to their voltage mode counterparts in terms of intermodulation performance and nonlinear gain compression
