Abstract :
In order to enhance energy efficiency in buildings and their surrounding areas, the concept of current building management systems has been extended to include capabilities to manage distributed energy sources based on renewables, electric vehicles and demand response programs. The technical and economic impact assessment performed in two high-profile facilities of public use shows that economic profits and environmental impact reduction can be achieved in certain scenarios.
