Abstract :
This paper discusses the modeling, sensing, estimation of vibration modes, and the development of two types of active vibration control strategies-optimal state feedback control based on on-line estimation of vibration characteristics, and a modified variable structure controller. The discussion is based on results of a research project for active vibration control of circular saws for wood cutting, using magnetic actuators. The purpose of the research is to develop an active control system to increase wood recovery by reducing saw blade vibration
