Abstract
The application of control loop performance assessment and benchmarking techniques to industrial processes control loops is considered. A strategy for auditing the behaviour of control loops so that appropriate advanced control systems can be chosen and the total system optimised is presented. The aim of the strategy is to provide a method of increasing the revenue generated from an existing or new industrial process. A review of current benchmarking and plant auditing trends is included and a framework for integrating control loop benchmarking and plant economic auditing to achieve the best results is introduced
