Abstract :
In this paper, we argue and illustrate that system-of-systems ideas could be used -both ex-ante and ex-post-as conceptual frameworks to guide the exploration of complex systems, to put quantitative models into perspective, to interpret modeling results and to relate them to the wider context. This is illustrated by means of a system dynamics model dealing with the transition of the EU-25 electricity generation system towards more sustainable electricity systems.
