Abstract :
This paper presents the determination of the resonant frequency of circular microstrip patch antennas on isotropic and anisotropic substrates based in equivalent square microstrip antennas, applying the modified transverse resonance technique (MTRT). It is also used a mapping that transforms the original microstrip antenna on anisotropic substrate into another on isotropic dielectric. The computed results are compared with several theoretical and experimental ones with good agreement. As a fullwave analysis technique, there is no restriction with respect to the patch dimensions and substrate height. The resonance analysis allows a better understanding of the antenna resonance mechanism.
