Abstract
Methods for determining optimal parameters for Wiener models of direction-dependent dynamic systems are described. When such a system has first-order dynamics, with parameters dependent on the system output direction, the input-output cross-correlation function contains distinctive patterns when the input is a pseudorandom binary signal based on an m-sequence. Similar patterns are observed in the cross-correlation function of a Wiener model when perturbed by the same signal. Comparing these patterns as the parameters of the Wiener model are changed leads to methods for determining the optimal parameter values
