Abstract

A description is given of a versatile office system called POEM (Paperless Office and Electronic Mail). This system runs on PCs as well as on mini- and microcomputers. It has been designed for compatibility with the international standardization activities of ISO/CCITT within the area of office environments, i.e. information and communication technologies. The power of POEM is enhanced by its multilingual user interface, the possibility of handling multilingual documents in all standardized formats, and its support of communication services in accord with international standards
