  • Abstract
    This paper focused on the implementation of automatic device switching to perform in restoration scheme located at distribution fiber section. This protection device is potentially will improve the system efficiency in order to provide the continuous data flow until it reach to the end user. We proposed for immediate split structure in EPON network when the signal is totally split when it pass through the optical splitter. The restoration scheme proposed in this paper was presented and the simulation results proved the system feasibility. The bit error rate (BER) performances are measured by a 1.25 Gb/s non-return-to zero (NRZ) pseudo random binary sequence (PBRS) with a pattern length of 231-1 for the downstream traffic between OLT and 8 ONUs. Our results were obtained by observing bit error rates, eye diagram, and optical power levels.
