Abstract :
The effects of apertures´ shape and configuration on the shielding effectiveness and resonant frequencies of metallic enclosures is studied using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. It´s shown that for a fixed open area the shielding factor is significantly dependent on the shape of the aperture. Furthermore, it´s shown that dividing a specified open area into a combination of multiple apertures may improve the shielding effectiveness. This could be used in designing ventilation systems or optimizing the configuration of apertures installed for entering feeding cables.
