Abstract :
In this paper the error in Site VSWR measurements caused by imperfect omnidirectional transmit antennas is investigated. On the basis of the H-plane pattern published by the manufacturer the distribution of the error is calculated by means of the Monte Carlo Method. There are wide differences between the products from Austrian Research Centers GmbH and from Schwarzbeck GmbH. In the frequency range from 1 to 18 GHz the systematic error is less than 0.5 dB for the PODs and more than 2 dB for the SBAs. The maximum deviation is -0.5 dB / +1 dB and -4 dB / +2 dB respectively. The contribution to the measurement uncertainty, the variance, is less than 0.1 dB and 1.4 dB respectively.
