Abstract :
The influence of resistors for microstrip equalizer is investigated through numerical simulations and experiments based on the analysis of the resistor loaded L microstrip resonator and its application to the microstrip equalizer. Resonators are one of the basic components of microstrip equalizer; they may decide frequency change points of the equalizer. But as a equalizer, in order to match the given attenuation curve respectively, its attenuation and quality factor should be adjustable besides the frequency is adjustable. To solve this problem, we choose resistor loaded resonators to construct microstrip equalizer. In this paper, we present a thin-film resistor loaded microstrip L resonator and their application to microstrip equalizer. By studying the location and resistance of the resistors, we know that by loading a thin-film resistor in the L resonator, the microstrip equalizer not only can be frequency adjustable, but also can be attenuation adjustable and quality factor adjustable. The high frequency structure simulator (HFSS) was used to simulate this thin-film resistor loaded L resonator. Simulation results show that this thin-film resistor loaded L resonator is suitable to microstrip equalizer. At last a microstrip equalizer composed of this thin-film resistor loaded L resonator was designed, and good results were obtained in the experiment.
