Abstract
This paper is a summary of study and implementation of energy conservation that have been done in a small cottage. Based on the study, electric energy consumption on lighting and air conditioner systems are time varying and dependent on cottage occupancy, while the consumption in water distribution pump system is constant. This paper proposes the use of variable speed drive for the distribution water pump system to reduce energy consumption. The speed of pump is controlled according to the water pressure that is measured by using active pressure sensor. Implementation results show that electric energy consumption in distribution water pump motor is decreased significantly. Moreover, the water pressure can always be kept constant.
