Abstract :
A upconverter (U/C) module with the function of the frequency conversion from 3GHz to 20GHz has been developed for on-board switching Ka-band satellite transponders. A nonlinear gain variation within the temperature range of -15°C∼+65°C could be compensated by using a thermal attenuator at the RF part for linear compensation and using a thermistor at the DC part for nonlinear compensation. The developed U/C module showed the conversion gain of 17.1 ±0.2dB at the ambient temperature, the gain variation of 0.4dBmax at any 400MHz operating frequency band over the operating temperature of -15°C ∼+ 65°C.
