Abstract :
The construction of an ultrasonic gas flowmeter is difficult because the attenuation of ultrasonic waves and the effects of acoustic noises are considerably higher for gas than for liquid. The sound field of the proposed meter is stabilized by FM ultrasonic wave; however, the receiver eliminates the FM components. Therefore, the flow rate can be measured using a single frequency signal. The flowmeter investigated in the present study yields near satisfactory performance.
