Abstract :
This paper outlines a dynamic model and a novel equivalent circuit in the stationary reference frame for a diode bridge rectifier with a dc filter directly connected to a self-excited induction generator (SElG). Moreover, a simple and low-cost three-phase SEIG-based wind power generation scheme is presented. This scheme uses a three-phase diode bridge rectifier circuit connected to the SElG via antiparallel thyristors used to regulate smoothly the dc load voltage by controlling its triggering angle. The static VAR compensator supplies the excitation to the three-phase SElG. The dynamic performance responses and the experimental results of a 5-kW 220-V three-phase SEIG directly connected to a diode bridge rectifier with dc load and speed variations are presented. The experimental results of the PI closed-loop feedback voltage regulation scheme prove the practical effectiveness for a stand-alone wind turbine system with a simple control method
