Abstract :
Wireless mesh networks are rapidly deployable for many applications. The throughput of such a network depends on the schemes used for medium access control. In this paper, we present some of our latest results on the (intra-network) throughput of large-scale networks. In particular, we show a comparison of the throughput between the opportunistic synchronous array method and the slotted ALOHA under different traffic loading, which reveals that the former yields a higher throughput than the latter except for the region of very low traffic (less than 10% load probability). We further show that a longer distance transmission yields lower throughput than the shortest distance transmission except for the region of extremely low traffic (less than 1% load probability).
