Abstract :
A methodology for a successful IC development procedure, both can be applicable and helpful in relatively experimental studies and during product prototyping phase, is proposed. A field programmable gate array (FPGA)-based chip is utilized to design the conceptual core of sliding mode control strategy for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives owning flexible considerations in hardware and software functions. Description based on flexible design issue is also arranged for showing feasibility of the presented concept and its realization approach. Meanwhile, it demonstrates that the effectiveness of the proposed FPGA-based chip control system for the performance improvement of PMSM drives can be achieved as well.
