Abstract
The requirement for systems that can stock, represent, and provide efficient retrieval of images is becoming very important in medicine. Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) for medical images is a promising approach to address the data management challenges posed by the rapidly increasing volume of medical image data in use. In this paper we present an implemented web-based system for medical image retrieval using the Oracle Multimedia features for image retrieval. The system integrates content-based and text-based retrieval for efficient and more reliable search.
