Abstract :
In this paper, a wideband modulated frequency synthesizer is proposed for enhanced Bluetooth applications. The analog baseband signal directly modulates the voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) in a closed phase-locked loop (PLL). To compensate the PLL´s inherent high-pass filter response that distorts the modulated signal, a pre-distortion filter is designed and built with the transmit filter. The simulated results show that the proposed modulated frequency synthesizer can achieve an enhanced data rate (EDR) as high as 6 Mb/s with only 3.17% in FSK error.
