Abstract
The experience of playing a computer game depends on how well the action can capture players´ attention. Sometimes people immerse into the game environment so strongly that they forget their actual physical surroundings. In this paper, we introduce a physical running fitness system in the networked virtual environment-VE, which aims at making the exercise session more motivating and rich in experiences. We present a body-driven virtual human animation method, which can make the virtual human more lifelike and can improve the interactive sense of exercise. The networked physical running fitness system is a combination of an ellipse machine, a computer and a screen. Our first generation prototype system supports four users to race in local area network-LAN environment.
