Abstract
Interference produced by ESD events in shielded foil twisted pairs (SFTPs) is investigated. Typical installation setup of SFTP cables connecting differential driver and receiver RS422 both placed in shielded enclosures is considered. Experimental results of common and differential mode interference obtained adopting different discharge points and different grounding configurations are presented. The influence of positive and negative discharges on the measured interference is verified.
