Abstract :
A manufacturing management tool which utilizes the current Texas Instruments Inc. Semiconductor Manufacturing System (SMS) and a modified Kanban JIT (just in time) scheduling approach is described. The main objectives of the SMS/Kanban program are to identify waste, and assure dynamic line balance and minimal wafer flow variation operation to operation and hour to hour, while maintaining an optimum factor inventory level. Operating experience with the SMS/Kanban system at a fabrication facility is discussed
