Abstract :
One extended cell partitioning algorithm is proposed for improving the efficiency of extracting isosurface. A "ring" shape zone is constructed near isosurface. The bound threshold of the zone is determined by the half length of the cell diagonal. The cells inside the zone are processed, and the cells outside the zone are removed. The fast visualization algorithm is applied to the implicit surfaces represented by radial basis functions and multi-level partition of unity. By utilizing the mathematical properties of these implicit functions, the difficulty of calculating the shortest distance from one space point to the surface is solved. Consequently, a fast algorithm of extracting isosurface is implemented. Experimental results show that the new algorithm speeds up the process of extracting the isosurface.
