Abstract :
In this paper, four types control methods have been proposed for buck-boost cascade topology. This converter used in hybrid electric vehicle can step the battery voltage level either up or down. The target is to find the most appropriate control method for the converter with certain specifications. Critical conduction mode control, fixed frequency control, the buck/boost control and the buck + boost control have been mentioned. The inductor design is presented according to the given parameters. The relationship among the parameters for buck/boost mode, buck mode and boost mode in critical conduction mode are proposed. The efficiency comparison for four control methods is given. The loss breakdown of different control methods is also presented by mathematical calculation.
