Abstract :
High data rate HF modems are nominally 2400 bps (with a few exceptions working at higher rates). An requirement has emerged to join mobile VHF nets with an HF bridging link. It would be preferable to use the same bit rate over the HF link as in the VHF net, that is 16 kbps. This paper describes the initial experiments to determine the feasibility of passing this data rate over the HF path
