Abstract
Improvement of the quality of microwave images using an elaborate data-collecting arrangement is discussed. Instead of the usual fan-beam concept in which a number of rays are assumed to emanate at various angles for a particular transmitter orientation, information due to the axial ray only is used in this analysis, and the transmitter plane has been rotated accordingly to generate different rays. It is observed that in microwave tomography, apart from the limitations of the algorithm used, the quality of the picture depends appreciably on the manner in which the data are collected, and that quality improves significantly with the use of the elaborate data-collecting arrangement presented.<>
