Abstract
The new millennium will see the seamless integration of different network technologies, in which microwave transmission will play a key role. The paper covers developments and convergence in digital broadcast, satellite, cellular, microwave, and cable networks. It highlights drivers which will influence the growth of these networks and provides thoughts on the future structure of the communications business and the industry which underpins it.
