  • Abstract
Fuzzy control theory was applied to an engine control system. A microcomputer was used as the control center and a corresponding computer program was written to implement the fuzzy control law. Engine tests were performed several times on the the testbed. In these tests the engine operated well in the steady state when a small reference input signal or a perturbation was applied to the control system, and in the acceleration process, when a large reference input signal was applied. These test results indicated that the engine using the fuzzy controller had good control performance. The sensors and servomechanism are described, and the microcomputer hardware and software are discussed
