Abstract
Methods for three-phase sine-wave reference generation are reviewed and a novel approach is introduced. A nonlinear oscillator based on sliding mode operation provides sinusoidal waveforms with programmable frequency and amplitude. The high-gain feedback action, inherent in sliding mode operation, provides low distortion waveforms without the requirement of precision components and tuned circuits. The oscillation is not fixed by any of the natural frequencies of the linear circuit, but is purely a consequence of the switching control law. A proposed hardware discrete implementation is presented along with simulation and experimental results
