Abstract :
A chiroshield is a complex shielding structure where chiral materials and wire-meshes have been introduced in at least one of the layers of the composite. The shielding performances of complex chiroshields are here predicted, computed and finally measured. The electromagnetic problem has been rephrased in terms of circuit theory through an equivalent circuit network model properly introduced by a spectral technique. The spectral formalism yields an accurate expression of the surface impedance of this type of shield, and the shielding effectiveness of the structure has been computed in a closed form. The analytical predictions have been compared with numerical simulations and with experimental measurements of the shielding effectiveness of properly designed shielding samples. The obtained results show the interesting shielding properties of these structures, promising for EMC applications
